Marketplace FAQ: Buying, Selling and CORSIA on This Desk
Answers to the questions we hear most about browsing listings, indicative prices, project documents, retirement certificates, listing your own credits and CORSIA support.
These are the questions buyers, sellers and airline teams ask us most often. Where an answer depends on your situation, we say so and point you to the right page or to the desk directly.
What can I find on the marketplace?
The marketplace lists carbon credit projects in six categories: Forestry, Renewable, Blue Carbon, Agriculture, Waste & Biogas, and Industrial. You can filter by category, registry and delivery type, search by keyword, sort the results, and switch between a grid of cards and a table. Our guide to using the marketplace walks through each control.
What information does each listing show?
Every listing gives the project name, developer, country and category; the registry and registry ID; the methodology; whether the project is a removal, reduction or avoidance; the delivery type; the volume in tCO₂e, vintage and price in USD per tonne; the UN SDG goals it supports; and statistics for available volume, credits issued to date and estimated annual reductions. See how to read a listing for what each field means.
What do Spot, Issued and Forward mean?
They describe when and how the credits can be delivered. Spot and Issued lots relate to credits that already exist on a registry, while Forward lots are credits expected from future issuance. The difference affects timing, risk and price. Our article on spot, issued and forward credits explains when each makes sense.
Are the prices on the website final?
No. Listed prices are per tonne of CO₂ equivalent, in US dollars, and they are indicative. A price becomes firm only once we confirm availability, vintage, registry details and eligibility in writing. How carbon credit prices are quoted covers what moves a price.
How do I work out the cost of a purchase?
On a project page, enter the quantity you need and the page shows an estimated total based on the listed price. Treat it as a planning figure. The confirmed total comes with our written confirmation of the lot.
Can I pay for credits on the website?
No. No payment is taken on the website. Once a lot is confirmed and due diligence is complete, the commercial terms are agreed directly with the desk. For anything about contracts or payment, please contact us.
How do I start a purchase?
Open the project and click "Request to buy", which opens our contact form pre-filled with the project, or ask us on WhatsApp from the same page. If you need several lots or have specific conditions, you can instead post a structured requirement on our buyer intake form, listing volume, accepted programmes and vintages, any CORSIA or Article 6 conditions, and exclusions.
What are the steps from enquiry to certificate?
There are four. First, you choose a lot and quantity and we hold it, putting availability, vintage and registry details in writing. Second, documents are shared and checked against your requirement. Third, the units are transferred to your own registry account or retired on your behalf. Fourth, you receive proof: the retirement certificate and serial numbers, with a file your auditors can check. The full walkthrough is in buying carbon credits step by step.
Which project documents will I see before buying?
Qualified buyers receive the Project Design Document, the validation report, the verification report and the registry issuance record before any contract is signed. Our guide to project documents buyers receive explains what to look for in each.
Is the desk the official record of my credits?
No. The registry that issued the credits is the official record of issuance and retirement. You can check any listing yourself by searching its registry ID on that registry's public site, as described in carbon registries and serial numbers.
Do I need my own registry account?
Not necessarily. Units can go into your own registry account, or we can retire them on your behalf in the name of the beneficiary you choose. Each route has trade-offs, which we set out in registry accounts for buyers.
What proof do I get after retirement?
You receive the retirement certificate and the serial numbers of the retired units, together with a file auditors can check against the public registry. Retirement certificates explained shows what a certificate should contain and how to confirm it yourself.
Who can list credits for sale?
Project developers, aggregators, traders and holders of issued units can all list. Lots can be issued, spot or forward. The details are in who can list credits.
How do I list a project?
Use our seller intake form. You register the project once with its registry ID, methodology, host country and authorisation status, then add each lot with its vintage, quantity and asking price. Information needed to list a project has a full checklist.
Do I have to show my asking price publicly?
No. When you add a lot, you can choose to display the price on the listing or keep it on request, in which case buyers ask the desk.
Does the desk help airlines with CORSIA?
Yes. Our CORSIA services cover monitoring plan support, emissions reporting, calculating the offsetting requirement, sourcing eligible units, due diligence, registry setup, and the transfer and cancellation of units. For sellers, we also help with host-State authorisation and corresponding adjustments.
How can I estimate my airline's offsetting requirement?
Use the CORSIA calculator. It works from fuel burned, using 3.16 tonnes of CO₂ per tonne of Jet-A or Jet-A1 and 3.10 for AvGas or Jet-B, or directly from CO₂. You enter the sector growth factor yourself and can deduct reductions from eligible fuels. The result is an estimate to plan with, not a compliance figure.
Can every credit on the marketplace be used for CORSIA?
No. CORSIA-eligible units must come from an ICAO-approved programme, fall inside the eligible vintage window and, for current periods, carry host-country authorisation backed by a corresponding adjustment. Before any purchase for compliance, we confirm eligibility for the specific lot in writing. Our CORSIA eligible units checklist and corresponding adjustments made simple explain the conditions.
Is my airline covered by CORSIA?
Monitoring, reporting and verification apply to operators emitting more than 10,000 tonnes of CO₂ a year from international flights with aircraft over 5,700 kg maximum take-off mass. Whether you must also offset depends on the routes you fly and the phase of the scheme. Work through the self-check in is your airline covered by CORSIA.
Where does the desk operate from, and how do I reach it?
Our office is in Indore. You can call or message us on WhatsApp at +91 80857 78977, or write through the contact page. For anything this FAQ does not cover, including contracts and payment, that is the best place to start.
